Charles Boyer (28 August 1899 – 26 August 1978) was a French-American actor who appeared in over 80 films between 1920 and 1976. Known for his memorable performances, Boyer found success in American films during the 1930s, particularly in romantic dramas like The Garden of Allah (1936), Algiers (1938), and Love Affair (1939). He also excelled in the mystery-thriller genre, earning acclaim for his role in Gaslight (1944). Boyer received four Oscar nominations for Best Actor. In addition to his film work, he appeared as himself on the CBS sitcom I Love Lucy. Born in Figeac, France, Boyer discovered his passion for movies and theatre at a young age and later entertained soldiers with comic sketches during World War I.
