Charles Nicol

Charles Nicol (1940 – July 26, 2020) was an American author and professor known for his expertise on the life and works of author Vladimir Nabokov. He also wrote extensively on fiction, particularly science fiction and detective fiction, as well as popular culture. Nicol served as a professor in the Department of English at Indiana State University. He published on Nabokov since 1967 and completed his PhD in 1970 with a dissertation on the author. Nicol was elected president of the International Vladimir Nabokov Society twice and became a Fulbright senior lecturer in 1984. His writings appeared in notable publications such as The New York Times, The Washington Post, and Harper's Magazine.
