Charlie Hicks Biography
Charles A. Hicks, also known as 'Charlie B', was an American broadcaster who worked in the field for 55 years. He started his career in 1954 as a late night disc jockey at WHBT in Harriman, Tennessee. Hicks also worked as a reporter and sports anchor for WLOS-TV in Asheville, North Carolina, where he covered the fatal crash of Piedmont Airlines Flight 22 in 1967. During his time at radio station WSEV in Sevierville, Tennessee, he had the opportunity to witness teenage Dolly Parton's live studio performances. Hicks also interviewed civil rights activist William L. Moore shortly before Moore's murder in 1963 and testified before a Federal grand jury in Gadsden, Alabama. Charlie Hicks passed away on May 12, 2015.
