Charlie Lucas

Charlie Lucas is a contemporary sculptor born on October 12, 1951, in Prattville, Alabama. He currently resides and works in Selma, Alabama, where he owns and operates the Tin Man Studio, a gallery and studio. Lucas comes from a long line of craftspeople, with his ancestors including quilters, ceramicists, blacksmiths, basket weavers, and woodcarvers. Influenced by his maternal grandfather, Lucas developed a passion for art from a young age. He studied blacksmithing and metal works under his grandfather's guidance. Lucas's sculptures often incorporate discarded metal, reflecting his great-grandfather's own work. With a career spanning decades, Lucas has established himself as a prominent figure in the contemporary art world.
