Chelsea Manning

Chelsea Manning, born Bradley Edward Manning on December 17, 1987, is an American activist and whistleblower. Manning, a former United States Army soldier, gained notoriety for disclosing nearly 750,000 military and diplomatic documents to WikiLeaks in 2010. Convicted of violations of the Espionage Act and other offenses, she was imprisoned from 2010 until 2017 when her sentence was commuted by President Barack Obama. Manning is also known for her gender transition and identifying as a trans woman named Chelsea Manning. Assigned as an intelligence analyst in Iraq, she had access to classified databases and leaked the information, leading to her arrest in 2010.
