Christian Patterson Biography
Christian Patterson (born 1972) is an American photographer known for his Sound Affects and Redheaded Peckerwood series. He was born in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin and currently resides in Memphis, Tennessee. Patterson's work has been showcased through solo exhibitions and published as books. His Redheaded Peckerwood series won the Rencontres d'Arles Author Book Award in 2012. Additionally, Patterson has received a Guggenheim Fellowship and the Vevey International Photography Award. He moved to Memphis in 2002 to work with photographer William Eggleston and completed his first project, Sound Affects, in 2005. This collection of color photographs explores Memphis as a visual and musical place, utilizing light and color as visual representations of sound and music.
