Christine Chubbuck Biography
Christine Chubbuck (August 24, 1944 – July 15, 1974) was an American television news reporter. She worked for stations WTOG and WXLT-TV in Sarasota, Florida. Chubbuck was known for being the first person to die by suicide on a live television broadcast. She was born in Hudson, Ohio and attended the Laurel School for Girls in Shaker Heights. Chubbuck later studied theater arts at Miami University and Endicott College before earning a degree in broadcasting from Boston University in 1965. Her career in broadcast journalism took her to Florida, where she tragically ended her life during a live broadcast.
