Christine Quinn
Christine Callaghan Quinn (born July 25, 1966) is an American politician and former Speaker of the New York City Council. A member of the Democratic Party, she made history as the first female and openly gay speaker. Quinn ran for mayor of New York City in 2013 but lost the Democratic primary. She currently works as a political contributor on CNN and MSNBC. Born in Glen Cove, New York, Quinn attended School of the Holy Child and graduated from Trinity College. She is also known for her advocacy work as head of the Housing Justice Campaign. Quinn's maternal grandmother was a survivor of the RMS Titanic sinking.
