Claude Akins Biography
Claude Aubrey Akins (May 25, 1926 – January 27, 1994) was a Cherokee-American character actor known for his work on stage, screen, and television. Born in Nelson, Georgia, he grew up in Bedford, Indiana. Akins graduated from Northwestern University in 1949, majoring in theatre arts. His film career began with a role in From Here to Eternity (1953), and he went on to appear in The Caine Mutiny (1954) and Rio Bravo (1959), among others. Akins gained recognition for his portrayal of Sheriff Lobo on the television series B. J. and the Bear (1979–1981) and its spin-off The Misadventures of Sheriff Lobo. He left a lasting legacy in the entertainment industry.
