Clifton Duncan Davis (born October 4, 1945) is an American actor, singer, songwriter, minister, and author. He is known for writing The Jackson 5's No. 2 hit "Never Can Say Goodbye" in 1971. With numerous Broadway credits, including Hello, Dolly! (opposite Pearl Bailey), Aladdin, and Wicked, Davis has showcased his talent on stage. He has also starred in television shows such as That's My Mama, Amen, Madam Secretary, and others. Additionally, Davis has hosted the Stellar Gospel Music Awards, Gospel Superfest, and Lifestyle Magazine. He has appeared on game shows like Match Game and Pyramid, as well as in various movies. Alongside his successful entertainment career, Davis is a minister, operating an interdenominational ministry and often appearing on the Trinity Broadcasting Network. He is also an author and contributed a chapter to the book Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul, sharing his personal experiences of racism while growing up.
