Colin Mitchell Biography
Colin Mitchell (17 November 1925 – 20 July 1996) was a British Army soldier, politician, and public figure. He gained prominence as the commanding officer of the 1st Battalion of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders in 1967, leading the reoccupation of the Crater district of Aden during the 'last battle of the British empire.' Mitchell later resigned his army commission amid controversy. He went on to serve as a Conservative Member of Parliament from 1970 to 1974. Beyond politics, Mitchell worked as a security and military consultant after a failed business venture. In 1989, he played a key role in the Halo Trust, a non-profit organization involved in mine clearance in former war zones.
