Curtis Giovanni Flowers is an American man who gained national attention for being tried six times for a murder in Mississippi. Born on May 29, 1970, Flowers was alleged to have committed the shooting deaths of four people inside a furniture store in Winona in 1996. Despite being convicted in four of the trials, all convictions were overturned on appeal. Flowers spent over 20 years on death row at the Parchman division of Mississippi State Penitentiary. The Mississippi Supreme Court overturned the first two convictions due to prosecutorial misconduct. Flowers' case has raised questions about racial bias in the criminal justice system and has become the subject of various documentaries and news coverage.
