Dale Ishimoto Biography
Dale Ishimoto (April 3, 1923 – March 4, 2004) was an American actor of Japanese descent. Born in Delta, Colorado, in 1923, he was raised in Guadalupe, California. During World War II, Ishimoto volunteered to fight in the 442nd Regimental Combat Team after being sent to the Gila River internment camp in Arizona. He received a Purple Heart and a medical discharge after two years of service. Ishimoto began his acting career at the Altadena Playhouse in California and became well-known for portraying villainous Japanese soldiers. He appeared in various films, including Beach Red (1967), MASH (1970), Superchick (1973), and Midway (1976). In the late 1990s, he gained popularity through his Nissan television commercials as Yutaka.
