Dan O'Brien
Daniel Dion O'Brien (born July 18, 1966) is an American former decathlete and Olympic gold medalist. He is known for his achievements in the decathlon, winning the Olympic title in 1996 and three consecutive world championships in 1991, 1993, and 1995. O'Brien also set the world record in 1992. Born in Portland, Oregon, he grew up in Klamath Falls as an adopted child in an Irish-American family. O'Brien attended Henley High School, where he excelled in track and field, earning four individual gold medals at the Oregon High School State Championships. He later attended the University of Idaho and Spokane Falls Community College before pursuing a successful career in athletics.
