Daniel Michael Wheeler (born December 10, 1977) is an American former professional baseball pitcher. He played in Major League Baseball for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, New York Mets, Houston Astros, Boston Red Sox, and Cleveland Indians from 1999 through 2012. Wheeler attended Pilgrim High School in Warwick, Rhode Island and was drafted by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in the 1996 MLB draft. He established himself as a top setup man for the Houston Astros in 2005, posting a 2.21 ERA in 71 games. Wheeler also played for Team USA in the 2006 World Baseball Classic. Throughout his career, he recorded several notable achievements and was known for his strong pitching abilities.
