Dan White
Dan White (September 2, 1946 – October 21, 1985) was an American politician and former army sergeant. He gained notoriety for the assassination of San Francisco Mayor George Moscone and Supervisor Harvey Milk on November 27, 1978. White was convicted of manslaughter for their deaths and served five years of a seven-year prison sentence. Born in Long Beach, California, White was raised in San Francisco's Visitacion Valley neighborhood. He attended Archbishop Riordan High School and later Woodrow Wilson High School, where he excelled academically. After graduation, White enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War. After his release from prison, White tragically took his own life in 1985.
