Danny Bowien

James Daniel Bowien, known as Danny Bowien, is a chef and restaurateur. Born in 1982 in South Korea, Bowien was adopted at a young age and grew up in Oklahoma. He is the founder and owner of Mission Chinese Food in New York City and Brooklyn, as well as the co-founder of Mission Chinese Food in San Francisco, California. Bowien has gained recognition in the culinary world, winning a James Beard Award. He was also the main subject of season six of the food and travel show, The Mind of a Chef. Prior to his success, Bowien worked at various restaurants in the San Francisco Bay Area, including Farina, where he won first place at the 2008 Pesto World Championships in Genoa, Italy.
