David Bloom
David Bloom (May 22, 1963 – April 6, 2003) was an American television journalist known for his work as co-anchor of Weekend Today and as a reporter. He was born in Edina, Minnesota to Laura Jean and Harold James Bloom. Bloom was an accomplished ice hockey player and a state champion in high school debating. He attended Pitzer College in Claremont, California, where he majored in political science. In 1985, Bloom was ranked as the top intercollegiate policy debate participant in the nation. He tragically passed away at the age of 39 due to a pulmonary embolism resulting from deep vein thrombosis. Bloom is survived by his wife Melanie and three daughters: Nicole, Christine, and Ava.
