    David Dore Biography
    David Dore (August 9, 1940 – April 8, 2016) was a Canadian figure skating competitor, official, and former president and director general of Skate Canada. Born in East York, Toronto, Dore overcame a near-death experience with polio at the age of 12 and went on to become a successful figure skater. He won the 1964 Canadian national title in four skating. After retiring from competition, Dore became a judge and served at multiple World Figure Skating Championships and the 1984 Winter Olympics. Dore's contributions to figure skating were recognized internationally as he served as the vice-president of the International Skating Union. He passed away in Ottawa in 2016.
