    David Freedman Biography
    David Freedman (April 26, 1898 – December 8, 1936) was a Romanian-born American playwright and biographer. He gained recognition as the "King of the Gag-writers" during the early days of radio. Freedman was born in Botoşani, Romania to Sara and Israel Freedman. In 1900, his family immigrated to the United States, where he became the first in his family to graduate from the City College of New York in 1918. In 1918, he married Beatrice Rebecca Goodman, and they had three sons and a daughter. Freedman's career spanned theater and radio, and he made significant contributions to comedy writing. He passed away on December 8, 1936 at the age of 38.
