David Hess
David Alexander Hess (September 19, 1936 – October 7, 2011) was an American actor, singer, songwriter, and director. He gained recognition for his portrayals of murderous villains and gruff characters in various films during the 1970s and 1980s. Prior to his acting career, Hess worked as a songwriter in the 1950s, co-writing songs for renowned artists like Elvis Presley and Pat Boone. He made his mark in the film industry with his debut role as Krug Stillo in Wes Craven's The Last House on the Left (1972). Hess also appeared in notable Italian films including Hitch-Hike (1977) and The House on the Edge of the Park (1980), and had a supporting role in Craven's Swamp Thing (1982). Additionally, he directed the slasher film To All a Goodnight (1980). In his later years, Hess taught improvisational theater in youth programs at the California Film Institute. He passed away on October 7, 2011, due to a heart attack.
