David Hess
David Alexander Hess (September 19, 1936 – October 7, 2011) was an American actor, singer, songwriter, and director. He gained recognition in the 1970s and 1980s for his portrayals of murderous villains and gruff characters in various films. Initially known as a songwriter, Hess co-wrote songs for renowned artists such as Elvis Presley and Pat Boone during the 1950s. However, his breakthrough came with his feature film debut in Wes Craven's horror movie The Last House on the Left (1972), where he played the role of Krug Stillo. He continued his career playing tough roles in Italian films like Hitch-Hike (1977) and The House on the Edge of the Park (1980). Hess also directed the slasher film To All a Goodnight (1980). In his later years, he taught improvisational theater in the youth programs of the California Film Institute. Hess passed away on October 7, 2011, due to a heart attack.
