David Shannon

David Shannon (born October 5, 1959) is an American writer and illustrator of children's books. He grew up in Spokane, Washington, and later graduated from the Art Center College of Design. Shannon received the Caldecott Honor in 1998 for his book No, David!. Some of his other notable works include A Bad Case of Stripes, How Georgie Radbourn Saved Baseball, and The Amazing Christmas Extravaganza. He has also illustrated books by authors such as Audrey Wood, Rafe Martin, Jane Yolen, and Melinda Long. Shannon's passion for characters like the Artful Dodger from Oliver Twist and Disney movie villains inspired his storytelling and illustrations in his own works.
