David Yu

David Yu (born 6 November 1967) is a former CEO of Internet betting exchange Betfair and a tech investor. He studied computer science at UC Berkeley and Stanford before moving to London from California in 2000 to work for Alta Vista. Yu joined Betfair as chief technology officer in 2001 and became CEO in January 2006. Under his leadership, the company went public on the London Stock Exchange in 2010. Yu stepped down as CEO in December 2011 after a drop in share value and the appointment of a new CEO. Currently, he is actively involved as an early-stage tech investor, including investments in companies like TransferWise (now Wise), a payment transfer company.
