Dean Scott Keates (born 30 June 1978) is an English professional football manager and former player. He played as a midfielder during his career, starting with his hometown club Walsall in 1996. Keates won promotion six times with three different clubs - Walsall in 1999, 2001, and 2007, Hull City in 2004, and Peterborough United in 2008 and 2009. He made his professional debut as a substitute in a 1-0 loss to Plymouth Argyle on 12 October 1996 and became a regular first-team player the following season, making 48 appearances in all competitions. Throughout his career, Keates made a significant impact as a key member of the midfield for various clubs.
