    Deirdre Sullivan is an Irish children's writer and poet, known for her captivating storytelling style. Born in Galway, Sullivan began her career as a teacher, specializing in working with autistic children. After taking a creative writing course with Siobhán Parkinson, she was commissioned to write her first book. Sullivan has since written several acclaimed works, including 'Tangleweed and Brine,' which won the 28th CBI Book of the Year Awards in collaboration with illustrator Karen Vaughan. In addition to her writing, Sullivan's play 'Wake' premiered in Galway in 2019. Her talent has been recognized with numerous award nominations, and she received the 'Short Story of the Year' award at the Irish Book Awards in 2021 for her story 'Little Lives.'
