    Denis Lyons Biography
    Denis Lyons (1 August 1935 – 7 July 2014) was an Irish Fianna Fáil politician. He served as a member of Cork County Council from 1972. Lyons was elected to Dáil Éireann in 1981, representing the Cork North-Central constituency. He was re-elected in the next four general elections until his defeat in 1992. In 1987, he became a Minister of State at the Department of Tourism and Transport with responsibility for Tourism. Despite Fianna Fáil's loss of seats in the 1989 general election, Lyons returned to his role as Minister of State. Lyons dedicated his career to public service and made significant contributions to Irish politics during his time in office.
