Dennis Flanagan
Dennis Flanagan (July 22, 1919 - January 14, 2005) was an American editor and the founding editor of the modern Scientific American magazine. Born in New York City, Flanagan had a significant impact on the scientific community. In 1947, he, along with Donald H. Miller, Jr., and Gerard Piel, acquired and reorganized the 102-year-old Scientific American. Flanagan served as the editor of the magazine for over 37 years, starting in 1947. He was married to author Geraldine Lux Flanagan and had two children. He later married author Ellen Raskin and then editor Barbara Williams Flanagan. Dennis Flanagan's contributions have left a lasting legacy in the field of science and publishing.
