Derek Anthony

Derek James Anthony (2 November 1947 - 19 March 2019) was a Royal Navy officer who served as Flag Officer Scotland, Northern England and Northern Ireland. He joined the Royal Navy in 1966 and commanded submarines, including HMS Onslaught and HMS Warspite. In 1991, he became captain of the frigate HMS Cumberland. Anthony held various positions within the Navy, such as Director of Naval Service Conditions and Deputy Flag Officer Submarines. He retired in 2003 and later became Clerk of the Worshipful Company of Shipwrights. Derek Anthony was married to Denyse and had two married daughters. He passed away on 19 March 2019 at the age of 71.
