Derek Christopher Lowe, born June 1, 1973, is an American former professional baseball pitcher. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Seattle Mariners, Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers, Atlanta Braves, Cleveland Indians, New York Yankees, and Texas Rangers. Lowe made his MLB debut in 1997 and threw a no-hitter for the Red Sox in 2002. He played a crucial role in the 2004 post-season, helping the Red Sox win their first World Series championship in 86 years. Before his baseball career, Lowe was a standout athlete at Edsel Ford High School in Dearborn, Michigan, excelling in baseball, golf, soccer, and basketball. He was an All-League honoree in all four sports and earned a basketball scholarship to Eastern Michigan University.
