Dick Armey
Richard Keith Armey is an American economist and politician. He served as a U.S. Representative from Texas's 26th congressional district from 1985 to 2003 and as House Majority Leader from 1995 to 2003. Armey played a key role in the 'Republican Revolution' of the 1990s, which led to Republicans gaining majorities in both houses of Congress for the first time in four decades. He was one of the primary authors of the Contract with America. Armey has also worked as an author, former economics professor, consultant, advisor, and lobbyist. Born on July 7, 1940, in Cando, North Dakota, he obtained his education from Jamestown College, the University of North Dakota, and the University of Oklahoma.
