Don Anderson
Sir Donald George Anderson (1 March 1917–30 November 1975) was a senior Australian public servant. He served as the Director-General of the Department of Civil Aviation from January 1956 to September 1973. Born in Waikerie, South Australia, Anderson attended Adelaide High School and the University of Adelaide. He began his tenure as Director-General on 1 January 1956 and served until his retirement in September 1973. Anderson also served as Chairman of Qantas during his retirement. He was recognized for his service with the appointment as a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in June 1950 and was later made a Knight Bachelor in June 1967. Anderson passed away on 30 November 1975 in Heidelberg, Melbourne.
