Don Lewis
Don Lewis (March 26, 1941 – November 6, 2022) was an American vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, and electronic engineer. He is best known for creating the Live Electronic Orchestra (LEO), a pioneering instrument that integrated multiple instruments under a controller system, predating the MIDI controller by ten years. Born on March 26, 1941, in Dayton, Ohio, Lewis developed a passion for music at an early age. He studied Electronics Engineering at the former Tuskegee Institute and performed with the Tuskegee Chorus, as well as playing music at rallies led by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Upon leaving the US Air Force, Lewis settled in Denver, Colorado, where he worked as an engineering technician, choir director, and nightclub musician.
