Don Williams (May 27, 1939 – September 8, 2017) was an American country music singer, songwriter, and actor. He gained recognition for his solo career in 1971, producing seventeen number one country hits. With his soft tones and imposing build, he was nicknamed 'The Gentle Giant.' Williams was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2010. He also ventured into acting and starred in the 1975 movie 'W.W. and the Dixie Dancekings' alongside Burt Reynolds and Jerry Reed. Williams' influence spanned across genres, with his songs being recorded by numerous artists including Johnny Cash, Eric Clapton, and Waylon Jennings. His music enjoyed international popularity, including in the UK.
