Donna de Varona Pinto (née Donna Elizabeth de Varona; born April 26, 1947) is an American former competition swimmer, activist, and television sportscaster. At age 13, de Varona qualified for the U.S. Olympic swimming team. In the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome, she swam in the preliminary heats of the women's 4×100 freestyle relay. In the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, she won the gold medal in the women's 400-meter individual medley, setting an Olympic record. Over her career, she set a total of eighteen world best times and world records. De Varona has also worked as a television sportscaster and has been actively involved in various social and political causes.
