Donna Adrian Gaines, better known as Donna Summer, was an American singer and songwriter. Born on December 31, 1948, she rose to fame during the disco era of the 1970s and was often referred to as the 'Queen of Disco'. Summer's music gained a global following, and she became known for hits like 'Love to Love You Baby', 'I Feel Love', 'Last Dance', 'Hot Stuff', and 'Bad Girls'. Influenced by the counterculture of the 1960s, Summer started her career as the lead singer of a psychedelic rock band named Crow. She later joined a German adaptation of the musical Hair, where she met music producers Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte, leading to the recording of her influential disco hits. Donna Summer passed away on May 17, 2012.
