Donovan Tildesley
Donovan Tildesley (born July 24, 1984) is a retired blind Canadian swimmer. He gained recognition as the flag bearer of Canada at the 2008 Paralympic Games. Tildesley began swimming at the age of nine and achieved remarkable success in provincial and national competitions, setting numerous Canadian records. His notable achievements include holding the current world records for the 800-metre freestyle and the 1500-metre freestyle. In addition to his athletic career, Tildesley graduated from the University of British Columbia with an English degree and currently works as an insurance broker for Buntain Insurance Agencies in Vancouver. He is also actively involved in public speaking and is a co-owner of a radio station in Whistler, British Columbia. Tildesley has recently advocated for blind British Columbians to receive vaccination priority during the COVID-19 pandemic. He is a proud member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity and currently contracted with Virgin Cruise Lines as an Accessibility Consultant.
