Doreen Gentzler (born September 24, 1957) is an American retired television news anchor. She is best known for anchoring the news at 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. on WRC-TV in Washington, D.C. Raised in Arlington, Virginia, Gentzler's family later moved to Mount Pleasant, South Carolina when she was 11. She returned to the area to attend the University of Georgia, where she graduated in 1979 from the Henry W. Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication. Gentzler began her career as the host of Georgia Public Broadcasting's show The Lawmakers, and later worked at Cleveland's NBC affiliate WKYC-TV as an anchor. Throughout her career, she has been a prominent figure in television news.
