Doyle McManus (born May 5, 1953) is an American journalist and columnist for the Los Angeles Times. He is widely recognized for his appearances on Public Broadcasting Service's Washington Week. McManus is the first-born son of Lois Doyle and the late James R. McManus, a San Francisco advertising executive. He earned an A.B. in history at Stanford University in 1974 and was a Fulbright scholar at the University of Brussels. McManus began his career as a foreign correspondent for three years at United Press International in Brussels. He joined the Los Angeles Times in 1978 and has since covered various beats including Los Angeles, the Middle East, Central America, New York, and Washington, D.C., where he served as the bureau chief from 1996 to 2009.
