He is a senior scholar at the National Center for Public Policy Research, a columnist at Newsmax, and a contributor to The Daily Caller. With expertise in government waste and watchdog activities, Johnson is renowned for his writings on tax and budget issues, technology and telecommunications policy, and the environment. He played a significant role in popularizing investigative journalism by think tanks. Johnson founded and served as the first president of the Tennessee Center for Policy Research, now known as the Beacon Center of Tennessee.
