Duncan White

Duncan White (1 March 1918 – 3 July 1998) was a Sri Lankan sportsman and the first Ceylonese athlete to win an Olympic medal. He won silver in the 400-metre hurdles at the 1948 Summer Olympics in London. Born in Lathpandura, British Ceylon, White was the second South Asian to win an Olympic medal in track and field. He was educated at Trinity College, Kandy, where he excelled in athletics. However, his 'Trinity Lion' award was later withdrawn due to disciplinary reasons. White's sporting achievements made him a significant figure in Sri Lankan sports history.
