Ed Kranepool Biography
Edward Emil Kranepool III, born on November 8, 1944, is an American former professional baseball player. He is best known for his career with the New York Mets in Major League Baseball. Kranepool played primarily as a first baseman, but also saw some time in the outfield. He was signed by the Mets' scout Bubber Jonnard in 1962 at the age of 17 as an amateur free agent. In his first professional season, Kranepool received a September call-up and made his major league debut on September 22, 1962. Throughout his career, he remained with the Mets, becoming one of the youngest players on the team at just 17 years old.
