Eddie Powers
Edward Joseph Powers was a Canadian professional lacrosse player, professional ice hockey player, and coach. Born on September 11, 1888, in Elora, Ontario, Powers began his career playing senior lacrosse with teams such as Victoria and Nelson in British Columbia. He later transitioned into coaching, leading the 1926 Mann Cup championship team Weston Westonmen. Powers also had a successful ice hockey coaching career, starting with coaching the Eaton's department store team and later various amateur teams. He spent two seasons as the head coach of the Toronto St. Pats in the NHL and also coached in minor professional leagues, earning championships with the Boston Tigers (CAHL) and Syracuse Stars. Powers also worked as an assistant coach, scout, and hockey executive for the Toronto franchise.
