Elayne Boosler (born August 18, 1952) is an American comedian, writer, and actress. She gained prominence in the 1970s and 80s as one of the few women working in stand-up comedy. Known for her observational style and frank discussions about her life as a single woman, Boosler broke ground in the industry. In 1985, she self-produced the comedy special Party of One, becoming the first female comedian to have an hour-long special on a cable television network. Rolling Stone referred to her as 'The First Lady of Stand-Up' and included her on their list of the '50 Best Stand-Up Comics of All Time.' Boosler is recognized as a groundbreaking figure in American comedy.
