Eleanor Lambert (August 10, 1903 – October 7, 2003) was an American fashion publicist known for her significant contributions to the American fashion industry. Born in Crawfordsville, Indiana, Lambert attended the John Herron School of Art and the Art Institute of Chicago to study fashion. Although she initially aspired to be a sculptor, Lambert found success in advertising, working with artists and art galleries. She played a pivotal role in establishing New York City as a major fashion capital and increasing the international prominence of American fashion. Lambert founded influential events such as New York Fashion Week, the Council of Fashion Designers of America, the Met Gala, and the International Best Dressed List. She was married twice and had a son, renowned poet Bill Berkson. Lambert passed away in Manhattan.
