Elisa Jimenez

Elisa Jimenez (born 1965) is an interdisciplinary artist known for her work in fashion design, writing, drawing, painting, performance art, and art installation. She is best known for her ongoing project, 'The Hunger World,' which features marionettes of various sizes. Born in El Paso, Texas, Jimenez is the daughter of sculptor Luis Jiménez and graphic designer Vicky Balcou. She developed an interest in sewing and fashion at a young age. Jimenez earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a minor in anthropology from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Arizona. After her father's death in 2006, she relocated to Santa Fe, NM from New York City. Vogue has recognized Jimenez as a leading figure in the avant-garde and one of the top 10 American Designers in the independent realm.
