Eric Barker
Eric Leslie Barker (12 February 1912 – 1 June 1990) was an English comedy actor known for his roles in the popular British Carry On films. Born in Thornton Heath, London, Barker grew up in Croydon, Surrey, and attended Whitgift School. After leaving his father's paper merchants' company, he focused on writing. Barker's first novel, The Watch Hunt, was published when he was only eighteen. He then transitioned to writing and performing lyrics, revues, and sketches for stage and radio. During World War II, Barker gained recognition as part of the armed forces radio show Merry Go Round. Although he only appeared in the early Carry On films, he made a memorable impact on British comedy.
