Eric Simonson

Eric Simonson is an American writer and director in theater, film, and opera. He was born on June 27, 1960, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Simonson is a member of the esteemed Steppenwolf Theatre in Chicago and has authored several plays, including Lombardi, Fake, Honest, Magic/Bird, and Bronx Bombers. In 2005, he won an Academy Award for his short documentary A Note of Triumph: The Golden Age of Norman Corwin. Simonson was also nominated for a Tony Award for Best Direction of a Musical in 1993 for The Song of Jacob Zulu. He has made significant contributions to the theater community, having co-founded Lifeline Theatre in Chicago and becoming a member of Steppenwolf's ensemble in 1993.
