Eteuati Ete
Eteuati Ete, born in approximately 1962, is a New Zealand-based actor and comedian. He is best known as one half of the popular Samoan duo, Laughing Samoans. Ete was born in Samoa and relocated to New Zealand with his parents at the age of 12. He was among the first Pacific Islanders to attend the Toi Whakaari New Zealand Drama School, where he graduated in 1984 with a Diploma in Acting. Ete played the lead role in the first full-length Pacific Island play ever performed in New Zealand, called 'Le Matau' (1984). He also wrote and performed the first solo show by a Pacific Islander in New Zealand, titled 'The Johnny Smith Myth.' Ete has an extensive background in stage, film, television, and radio. In 2003, he formed the Laughing Samoans with Tofiga Fepulea'i. In 2017, Ete admitted to a history of domestic violence.
