Ethel Fisher

Ethel Fisher (née Blankfield; 1923–2017) was an American painter known for her diverse range of work spanning across abstraction and representational genres. Her career, which lasted over seven decades, took place in New York City, Miami, and Los Angeles. Fisher's art focused on color and space, with notable works including large-scale portraiture, architectural 'portraits,' landscape, and still-life. After studying at the Art Students League in the 1940s, she gained recognition as an abstract artist in Florida during the late 1950s. Fisher's work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including in Havana, Cuba. Notably, she is celebrated for her portraits of fellow artists from the 1960s and her architectural paintings of urban cast-iron buildings during the 1970s.
